Department : Civil Engineering

Warm Greetings from the Department of Civil Engineering, St. Thomas Institute for Scienceand Technology, Trivandrum.

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2010, initially offering the UG Programme. The PG programme in Geotechnical Engineering commenced in the year 2014. We are proud and happy that the good infrastructure and facilities coupled with a team of committed, caring and competent staff have made the department one of the preferredchoices for aspiring graduates and post graduates in Civil engineering. 

Civil engineering is a discipline highly relevant to society and mankind for its role in infrastructure development, disaster management, mitigation of pollution and protection of environment. We, the Civil engineering family of St.Thomas Institute for Science and Technology, promise to continue our sincere efforts to provide quality education and guidance to our students to make them capable of contributing to Civil Engineering technology for sustainable development of the society and mankind.

The career opportunities for Civil engineers coverall the major construction projects under the State andCentral Government such as the public works departments, the railways and the military.  Civil engineers are also wanted in private construction and real estate companies as project engineers. The students are provided with all opportunities to become well established in their areas of specialization with moral and cognitive guidance from the faculty. Class room to Career (C2C) programs initiated in the department are structured so as to make the students industry ready and employable.
